Photo editor advanced free download. Since I got an ask, I decided to make a tutorial but there are probably better tutorials out there than mine but oh well. It's kind of long and I may have rambled at some parts so if you don't understand something send me an ask :-)

Have fun reading

The programs that I use:

1. Photoshop CC 2017
2. KMPlayer
3. Topaz denoise
4. HQ video (pref. 1080p and above)

Topaz Filter Photoshop Cc 2017

Additional resources

1. Sharpening Action
2. AMTemu (program to unlock photoshop cc 2017)
3. AMTemu guide

Step 1. Change KMPlayer Settings

Open KMPlayer, right click > options > preferences (or press F2 for windows). On the sidebar, go to video processing and make sure that under condition, it is set to 'Always use (strongly recommended)',

Then at the top of the sidebar, click on DVD Settings, go to the navigator tab and under DVD navigator, make sure that the check box for 'Disable KMP video transform filter' has been checked/ticked.

Step 2. Frame capture settings

Open the video that you're going to be giffing and press ctrl + g (windows) or right click > capture > frame: extract.

These are the settings that I use:

Step. 3 Creating your gif

  • Open Photoshop
  • Files > Scripts > Load files into stack
  • Browse to where your frames were captured and select all

At the bottom on your timeline, click create frame animation then on the right, theres a box with the lines; click that and select make frames from layers, then from the same place I also select reverse frames.

Then I crop and resize (ctrl + i or image > image size) my gif and I mainly use the dimensions 268x350, 268x150 or 268x268. For this tutorial, I'll use 268x350. Also, this is where I delete frames to only gif the scene that I want and don't forget to save before going to the next part.

Step 4. Sharpening + Denoise

~ sidenote: A big thank you to Brandinator for making the smart object tutorial, which you can watch here ~

On your timeline, click the button that will say 'convert to video timeline' when you hover over it and then select all layers (ctrl + a), right click and select convert to smart object

First, I use topaz denoise by going into filter > topaz labs > topaz denoise and select jpeg - light. The only setting I change for this is the overallstrength and I keep it quite low, between 0.04 - 0.07 since the quality of the video should help you a lot. Then I sharpen by using an action but if you cant find window for it to appear then go to window > action and it should appear. To load the action you click the box with the lines and select load action and go to where you saved the action file.

Now you just need to select the action file, which is 'action for gifs' and click the play button. After that, click the button with lines on your timeline > convert frames > flatten frames into clips. This is where you just wait for ps to apply the action and topaz to your layers and the time varies, depending on how many layers/frames you have and how fast your computer is.

Once it's finished, you should be able to see all your layers on the right and this is where you convert to frame animation on your timeline and do the exact same thing in step 3 when you loaded your screencaps into ps.

On your timeline, delete the first two frames as well as the first two layers because you do not need them anymore then change your looping options to forever and select all the frames, click the little down arrow and change the frame delay time to whatever you want it to be (I usually put it on 0.04 or 0.05)

Now I just colour my gif and I make my own psd's every time I gif something, so unfortunately, I don't have a base psd if anyone were to ask for one. I mainly just use Levels, Curves, Exposure, Colour balance and Selective colour or Channel mixer only when I make b&w gifs. Make sure that when you colour, the layers are placed above the screencap layers so that it will appear on all the gifs.

When you're finished with your colouring and happy with it, you can now save your gif. Press ctrl + alt + shift + s or go to file > export > save for web. Check to make sure your gif is under 3mb, the looping is set to forever and click save.
